Taisho Chic featured over 70 paintings, prints, textiles and decorative arts

This temporary exhibition explored the simultaneous clash and embrace of Western modernity and traditional culture that occurred in Japan during the Taisho and early Showa eras, from 1912 to the 1930s. A central concern of the exhibition design was to present the works on open display to allow visitors to fully appreciate their often vivid and intricate colours, textures and forms while maintaining their safety and security.
