161 Castlereagh Street

Sydney

161 Castlereagh Street is a new premium grade office tower, designed by FJMT, with a heritage building, Legion House, maintained on the Pitt Street frontage. Through archaeological investigations and curatorial research, a fascinating history of the site emerged, including occupation by Vial’s Coach Factory and then a motor garage. Freeman Ryan Design was engaged to research, write, design and deliver the heritage interpretation of the site. As much of the interpretation is located in the exterior public spaces, bronze, glass and artefacts protected in resin have been used in the installation.
