In August 2015 Freeman Ryan Design won the tender to redevelop the galleries at Norsk Luftfartsmuseum (Norwegian Aviation Museum) in Bodø, Norway. The Civil Aviation Wing tells the story of how flight revolutionised Norway, connecting everyday people in rural towns and cities to Oslo and the world. Icons of Norwegian Aviation such as Roald Amundsen , Martha Johansen and Gidsken Jakobsen are also featured. FRD held a series of collaborative workshops with the museum curatorial team to develop content.
The Civil Aviation exhibition highlights the Museum’s incredible collection of aircraft, and utilises high end multimedia to bring the history, science and personal stories of aviation to life. Interactives, dramatic lighting, historical footage and a commissioned film support the artefacts. The design includes developing exhibition systems that allow the client to refresh content easily, such as the ‘Future of Flight’ showcase.
