Inside:
Life Inside Children’s Homes

National Museum of Australia, Canberra

Inside: Life in Children's Homes and Institutions was developed by the National Museum of Australia and designed by Freeman Ryan Design in 2011. The temporary travelling exhibition focused on the history of children in institutional care in Australia, including the more than 500 000 Australian children known as the Forgotten Australians, the Stolen Generations, and many child migrants. The exhibition told the children's stories through their own words, voices and personal objects.

The exhibition reflected the personal, internalised emotions of the children's experiences and the ephemeral nature of memory.
